planning clinics provide free condoms. Look in the telephone
directory under 'Family Planning' for your local
clinic.or in the ‘Find a Clinic’ section on the website. Brook provides free, confidential advice on sex and contraception
(as well as free condoms) for young people under the age
of 25. Its website has a special section a list of Brook
centres in the UK (click on the Go to Brook button on the ‘Contact Us’ page) so that
you can find one near you. You can write to Brook confidentially
via the ‘Ask Brook’ section on the website. Freephone
helpline for young people: 0800 0185023 (Mon–Fri 9–5). NHS walk-in centres in the UK provide emergency contraception. For your nearest centre, look at http://www.nhs.uk/england/noAppointmentNeeded/walkinCentres/default.aspx FPA (previously the Family Planning Association) provides free information on contraception and sexual health. The website has information about all types of contraception and a ‘Find a Clinic’ section. The Planned Parenthood Federation of America has a very good website with lots of practical advice about using condoms, including a ‘How to use a condom’ movie, as well as advice about lubricants. Check out this site before buying condoms or lubricants from Internet sites. Sylk is a lubricant, made from kiwi fruit that is safe to use with condoms. In the UK, it is available on prescription from your doctor. Alternatively, you can buy it from your local pharmacist (who may have to order it for you) or you can buy it by mail order. Condoms by Professor Adrian Mindel is a book that tells you everything that you could wish to know about the history, manufacture and use of condoms.
